How loud are Cross Trainers?

I'm tempted to pick one up from Argos for some cardio work. I live in a flat with wooden floorboard. They are slightly loose and move slightly/creak while walking on them.

Would they resonate badly using the cross trainer or should it be ok with some padding below the legs. A tread mill is out as they are simply too loud. I can't be running on wooden boards tbh.

I wouldn't put padding under each of its legs. A board of MDF of something similar to spread the weight evenly, unless you were going to use large squares of padding.

In terms of noise, hardly any.

Thanks for that, I'm more worried about the noise the floorboards will make rather than the machine.

I would imagine they should only creak as you get on an off. However as the weight will be shifted from front to back slightly as you stride it might creak slightly although the initial weight wont change once your on it. If that makes sense?

The boards should already be flexed...

We had one in an upstairs room and it could make a noticeable amount of noise whilst in use, so I am thinking it also depends on the quality of the cross trainer as well to some degree.
