so the 2X2GB memory sticks and perhaps the dominator fan on top
just wondering if the heatsinks can cope without the fan or if it is only a must when overclocking the memory
at first i thought it was a bit of a gimmick
but im only buying the memory on the weight of performance and reviews - not for the fan module
if i did run it i would probably plug it into my fan controller
that way i could monitor it myself
just thinking that it may be worth leaving it off all together and not obstructing my cpu cooler as the dominator fan thing is pretty tall
To be honest if you have half decent air flow in your case then i wouldnt bother with it. Ive taken mine off ( that was an old pic ).
Even after 10 hours of constant use the heatsink fins are cold to the touch in my case, but i have good airflow as you can see as i have a large dual compartment case.
I was also in 2 minds which ram to get. I wanted 8GB though and after a lot of reading up i decided on the corsair as the mobo i wanted was known to be happy with it.
see thats my problem
my geil has served me well - but i want some headroom for when my quad arrives
machine will be used for encoding/games i know games will not see an improvement but i want to be able to overclock my ram a little more
the dminator is the first choice but i like the ocz prives on ocuk
i cant find anywhere that says ocz and asus have got no compatibility issues as there was hell up when the p35 chipset was about
