Hi all,

Just wondering about the noise levels of the Nano please, the 290X I have currently I had to remove the reference cooler because it drove me bonkers, its now pretty much silent

If they drop to £350 or below again and they arent stupidly loud I'm going to grab one to tide me over until high end Polaris hits

Cheers

From looking at reviews it doesn't appear as loud as the reference cooler of the 290x but it does apear auidible.
Best to see what nano owners have to say all tho judging by the Nano owners thread not many people own the Nano.

I bought a Powercolor R9 Nano and it's a great little card but I will be honest and say it will get fairly loud under load. But having owned a reference 290X I cans say for definite the nano is much quieter.

Once you overclock the nano or apply increased power limits the fan does get loud but not obnoxiously so. I will also add there is a bit of coil whine but again with the side panel on it gets drowned out by system fan noise during gaming and is absent under normal Windows use.

It's all subjective but it is quieter than 290X reference by a fair margin IMHO but then again that is not a great yardstick is it :)

Don't listen to anyone telling you a 290X to Nano (or any other Fiji GPU) is a sidegrade. Having owned a 290X, 980, 980Ti, Fury and Nano I can say that 290X is easily 20% + slower at most resolutions than a stock Nano.

Overclocking on a Nano gets ~15% extra over stock considering it should reach ~1050 from ~900.

Is not that loud tbh. Is a single fan solution and much quieter than the gigabyte GTX780 Ghz I had. (last aircooled card)

Also with Nano you can always set it to auto, and it would rather throttle than raise fan speed and with freesync monitor you aren't going to see any difference.

However if you plan to overclock is a great card.

It is a queit card. Temps are below 80c and its not as loud as blowers. Less power required, which is a huge improvement over previous amd cards. Ive compared it to evga gtx970 ssc. Unigine valley extreme hd. 2400 vs 2900. Nano is equal or better than 980. If i knew how to watercool id go for it without a second thought

Went from a 290X at 1080 on the core to 2x Furys, when running in non Xfire mode, so using 1x card, my 290X was faster, so glad i got 2x, otherwise it would have been a downgrade.

Guys that unmissable deal was trully unique. I've flogged those codes for an extra £40 which took the card to £290. I've sold my GTX 970 for a further £210 net. Basically £80 for such upgrade seems tiny

I have to say I find that pretty much hard to believe considering it goes against every review and every test I have done of both GPUs. My own tests at 1440p custom settings with SweetFX sharpening give the following results for Tomb Raider reboot.

290X stock 1000/1250
Min 46
Max 82
Avg 61.7

290X 1100/1600
Min 52
Max 90
Avg 69.2

Fury Pro 1000/500 (Stock)
Min 56
Max 96
Avg 76.1

Fury Pro 1100/500
Min 60
Max 112
Avg 82.8

It was a great deal. I was ready to purchase the new Hitman game for £30 on a CD key site when I saw it was being sold with the R9 Nano and Battlefront for £330. I jumped at the offer and sold the Battlefront code for £15 and saved myself £30 on Hitman.

All in all a great little GPU for £285. I am very impressed by it.

lol at the smack in this thread. I went from a 290 to a nano and the difference is huge in the games I play (GTA V and witcher mainly). could barely run at 4k now I run gta 4k v/high/ultra with post processing at ultra and some AA and still get 45fps.

And the nano is the same (noise) as my 290 at load but it runs 10c cooler.
