How low can I go ?

Hi all,

I have this res on my new rig and the coolant is sitting just below half way after 3 days of running it. How low can I let this get before I should stop using it ?

It's my first watercooled system (The Infinity Tesseract) and I don't wanna risk any problems. I've just ordered two bottles of the mayhem pastel orange because it appears I'll be needing it often, is it right to drop that much in just 3 days ?

You shouldn't really be losing any coolant. It will drop a little as air gets worked out of the loop, but after a while it should stop.

If it doesn't, keep an eye out around the loop for any leaks

Assuming it was shipped full? In that case, yeah. It's just the system bleeding itself fully, all those trapped bubbles

The inlet and outlet on that is at the bottom anyway, so no harm running it half full/lower. You shouldn't need to top it up much if any to be fair, if you do lose much more liquid take a poke around to make sure nothing is loose/leaking!

Though doubt it.

Thanks a lot guys for the information, it's been a little concerning but after reading your replies I do feel better about the situation.

The PC was indeed delivered filled and it did have quite a big air pocket in there. Once I got it to settle I didn't actually check the reservoir again and I left it in place where the back is not so easily accessed. I thought I'd check it today and I was quite alarmed at the half filled situation. It's probably always been this way

I'll fill it up when the new coolant arrives. Should it be around 2cm from the top ?

It really doesn't matter. So long as it never runs dry

I generally run my reservior about 3/4ish full (although I've got a 250mm res), but there's not really anything to stop you from filling it to the top.

I'd be tempted to rock the case gently from side to side (& tap all the tubing) beforehand to try and dislodge any air that's still left in the system.

We do fully bleed the systems before shipping them out, but if they've been moved around a lot during transit the air can work it's way back into the loop.

You should have received some spare fluid with your PC - did it not come with any?!
If you'd have given us a call/email before ordering the Mayhems coolant we could have sorted you out with some!

I figured that the air pockets were down to the transit, it was inevitable and nothing else can be done to stop that sort of thing. I have to say that your packaging of the system was first class, extremely well protected, thank you.
No my system didn't come with any spare fluid. I didn't realise that I should have got some coolant included with the pc. I just figured the two bottles on my receipt had been used in the setup of the system so I didn't think to call you guys.
