How make grey or highlighted sub headings?

Hi there,

I want to make grey sub headings on MS Word, but I'm confused on how to do so, I tried googl'ing with no luck!

Any help would be great, thanks.

That looks like it's a table, then formatted the cells in the table to the colour you want.

Yup, the whole lot would be a table and then adjust the cells/columns to suit. Thats how I do my CV

Here's what you do without faffing with tables. First highlight the text you want to have the grey background. From the Home Tab on the Ribbon, goto the Change Styles Quick Launcher at the far right, it looks like this :

Then select New Style from the bottom left icon. You should now see this:

Select Format from the bottom left and then Borders. Select Box then goto the Shading section and select your shade of grey.

Done
