How many gigs is your C:\Windows folder?

Mine's about 5.1 GB - is anyone really that desperate for disk space, or is this a "must have as small a folder as possible" game?
I tend to only allocate 10gb to my system partition.

Whats the point of this? Having a large ammount of files in the Windows directory doesnt affect performance nor hinder any the operation of Windows, unless your running out of disk space it need not be touched.

Why waste space and have applications if you never use them? It's just from the good old days, deleting help files. Why allow Windows to become bloatware? If Microsoft know people delete unwanted applications hopefully they'll keep a eye on what they include with the OS.

Windows XP on my work Laptop is 4.33GB
Windows Vista Ultimate is 7.07GB with very little installed :)

Not even 1Gb :D

Shrug, I'd rather spend £10 more on a larger hard disk than waste time deleting things I'm not supposed to.

erm no it doesn't. Several hundred megabytes, it's the old update files. You need to show hiddren directories, and they're in blue.

Also if you have used a service pack you can delete \Windows\Servicepackfiles. Or move them elseware/burn onto CDRW in case you need them.

$*.* does not include those files you speak of

You should have directories within \Windows, at the top in compressed form with the old updated files. Once you've installed them you don't need them, unless you want to go back.

Something like C:\Windows\$Q789289 or similar.

XP Professional - Created August 2006 - Windows folder - 2.39gb

Partitioned Size of C Drive - 10gb.
