Reinstalling company of heroes after dloading a 100+ meg patch and then another weighing in at almost 2 gigs yet anytime i go into game its telling me ive to dload yet more crap to even be able to play the game. Its now onto a 70 odd meg patch...and i have to load it as its giving me nothing but login screen, i hit cancel and i cant do anything. :mad:

Yeah the whole COH patching thing got a bit ridiculous, at first they released both updates and full patches, but now its all updates and its causing a major headache for anyone re-installing :( Only thing i can say is, having Opposing Fronts installed reduces the ammount you need considerably.
 
Well this is great, the 70 od mb patch is now telling me that its trying to patch an unrecognised version and i may need to reinstall the game. Truied redloading it and same thing.

How exactly is it possible to use this game through steam anyway? Wont accept the coh cd key.

Ahh sorry, you can't. You have to buy the game on Steam for it to work.

If you only have the original and not OF. You can buy OF on Steam, and then add your original CD key to that Relic account so you can access both games on Steam though, if that makes sense.
 
aye installing wow after a while is a right pain ! good thing i back up all my patches on an external that way i dont have to download em all again :D
 
I just reinstalled CoH the other day & just about gave up when getting the patches 2.3GB in total:eek:

You sure you have all the right patches installed,i was missing one & it gave me the " trying to patch an unrecognised version error "

Double check the patches you have & the patch numbers

Got it all working in the end

Finally got it working last night after 2 reinstalls. I appreciate dev support but not being able to play whatsoever unless you had the net disconnected was retarded.
 
Even WoW's patches aren't 2 gigs, I don't even understand how you can have a 2GB patch for anything but an MMO.
 
Must admit, I do love COH's gameplay and pretty much everything about it.... but it is starting to majorly get up my nose!

Single player I can handle, got COH:OF and patched to 2.300 at the moment, but trying to get a LAN game going the other day with a mate was a total disaster, even after a clean install on his rig!

Silly thing is about a year ago me and 3 other friends used to have original COH LAN matches, either unpatched or something like 1.4.... which was acceptable.

Shame, if they release any more patches it'll start to disappear up its own rectum I think!
