How many hours sleep do you have?

I work retail at Lakeside so my working hours vary between 9.30am and 10pm most days, with pretty random days off, so my sleep's really random too. Sometimes I get loads, sometimes I get naff all. My sleep patterns have always been a bit off-kilter though so I don't really mind, I'm no worse off than when I worked 9-5s.

On college nights usually go to sleep around 11-12 and wake up around 7, so about 7 hours then.
On weekends usually about 10, unless I get woken up or need to wake up for something.

my sleep pattern can get screwed up so easy, as no matter how hard i try i cannot fall asleep if im not tired, this is how screwed up it is at the moment, i got up at 8.30pm ill probably go bed about 2pm tomorrow afternoon, im like a owl lately,

if i go to sleep between midday and about 11.30pm i only need to have 5 or 6 hours sleep, if i go to sleep from 11.30pm to about 11.30am then i can sleep for upto 12 hours, one day i hope to get the answer to why my sleep pattern is so whacked up, and why i cant help it.

How old are you? In that link that i posted theres a small paragraph explaining about melatonin aftecting the sleeping pattern of young adults (aka teens :D), seem i may be affected by that.

So much for the 12pm sleeping pattern it's gone 12.30 now! Bloody addicting forums worse than nicotine.

Depends on what shift i'm on..

On earlies I tend to sleep earlier in the evening, Getting up at 5am to get to Stafford early then getting to bed about 8-9 O'Clock

Lates I sleep a lot longer, getting up about Middday and finishing work about 11 and staying up till about 2am

And nights at that i'm on atm, i'll get in about 7:30am and sleep till about 5ish

I'm trying to get my body back into working order, over the last few months i've found myself sleeping at 3am+ till 12pm+, so i'm trying to work myself a regular sleeping pattern.

Does the amount of sleep you need purley depend on the person? is 8 hours to much?

i'm considering 12am - 7am perfect for not going to bed to early and not staying in bed to late.

It depends on the person, but I think on average it's between 7 and 9 hours.

Personally 6-7 hours does me fine, but I do up to 12 on days I don't need to get up cos I'm lazy

For me it really depends. I can easily sleep for 16 hours straight but then I can happily operate for a day on 2 hours sleep. I generally tend to get somewhere between 4 and 10 hours sleep on average.

EIGHT HOURS A WEEK!!!!

That's just over 1 hr per day. Are you serious?
Aye I'm serious. I am a pretty bad insomniac, I have been for as long as I can remember (at least ten years now) and I pretty much rely entirely on prescription sleeping pills to get any sort of reasonable sleep. The 8 hours per week I mentioned is usually split up as two 4hr sleeps during the week.

It's completely not fun, as you can imagine, but thanks to sleeping pills it's a bit more regular.

Currently on a sleeping pattern of going to bed at 7am and waking up at around 3 or 4pm...not too bad. I'm back at home from University and i am aiming to stay awake until 10ish tonight to get myself back into a routine.

Normally get around 7 hours but if i am feeling lazy, 9 or 10. :o

i need about 7 or 8 to not feel tired.. any more or less and it hits me...

But what I need and get are very different. If I have to get up I will, like having to get up at 9 in the morning to do dissertation means max 4 hours tonite... and not having to get up I wont, ill gladly stay in bed untill 2pm at a weekend or when I have no lectures, meaning a good 11 or 12 sometimes (feel like rubbish after tho)

Less than 6: I don't wake up
6: Yeuch, can make it through the day but it's not fun
7-8: Feel pretty good
9: Tip top
More than 9: Bit groggy, waste of time

bed at 9.00/9.30AM weekdays and up at 5.30PM in the afternoon, out of that about 4/5 hours sleep and constantly being woken up by the daylight mob. Out to work 10.00PM at night , home by 7.15AM Monday to Friday. Saturday after getting home from night work, stay awake till around 2.00pm in afternoon and my body clock is telling me its around 2.00AM as normally been awake for 18hours now, sleep for 3 hours till 6.00PM and then woken up to watch Saturday evening TV, but normally fall asleep around 10.30 and up around 7.00AM Sunday. Normal day Sunday so bed around 11.00/12.00 and up on Monday at 7.00Am to take kids to school, back to bed at 1.00PM in afternoon till 5.30PM for dinner then back to work at 10.00PM Monday night - and repeat

such is Life

I go to bed at between 10 and midnight depending on how tired I am...And I'm up at 5.45 on the button.

Six hours is about right for me.
