I have i legit windows 10 pro x64 serial key, Im wanting to format my sons my question is this.

Can i legally install Windows 10 on his PC and use my serial key? I mean does the serial key have a specific number of usages?

No you cannot install it using that key. That is if you have already used the key it is now tied to that system, a second activation won't work.

I thought you can tie it to MS account now, not hardware.

Mine is w10 home and changed motherboards and it was ok.

I installed a copy of Windows 10 Pro using a generic/temporary licence key from Microsoft and bought a licence key for Windows 10 Pro shortly afterwards, but I left the placeholder key to see how long it would be until it asked for the proper key... Just out of curiosity... It has been months and it still says licensed, and I still have the proper key just sitting here in my drawer...

Microsoft's licencing and security isn't the greatest!
