Was trying to learn some French but it seems to have a pretty strange structure, certain words can have different meanings and it's about their relationship to the other words and context of the sentence. It makes you think though how much we take our language for granted, how we just breeze through a sentence and skip words here and there without a thought and also how this upcoming generation of Europeans mostly speak English. I am going to plod away at French but it seems a real struggle at the moment. It's quite hard learning a language after a certain age as well.

I also love when English speakers throw in a "Je suis" or "Tres bon" into their paragraph. It now makes my laugh as it's like saying, "I do not know any French and have no desire in learning any". Usually women that do that though i think.

"I can't ****** wait to see you at the weekend, Je suis excited as ****. Blah Blah Blah . Tres Bon...."

The main point here is, i play an online game and most players are from mainland Europe who mostly all speak English, some quite young players also who seem to have picked up English within a matter of weeks. English is the undisputed common language.

For one, some of them they actually speak English probably better than I do and for two, they see right away that English speakers on the server generally have no desire to learn any other language, and the majority of us probably couldn't anyway as our brains are so wired into not learning. I know most of this is dictated by America but I still feel a bit embarrassed in the situation. I am waiting for them to turn around and say, let's make German the common language.
