How many monitors did you send back before you got a good one?

I'm about to send back my third BenQ GW2765HT (not to OCUK though, you can sleep easy Gibbo!) with each one having worse backlight bleed/glow than the last, even with the brightness way down below 20. Needless to say i'll be replacing this one with something from another manufacturer.

Have I just been unlucky or is this somewhat normal?

Could be just a bad batch. I've had like 5 different monitors in the past three months and each came in perfect condition (i.e. no dead pixels, unusual glow, blb etc)

I went through 4 Dell's in November, when I gave up and went for a BenQ, first one has no issues, just one dead pixel but I can live with it as it's not noticeable unless I stare for it! Luck of the draw really.

Do you get the feeling with some retailers that they don't see it (or other things such as coil whine, fan noise etc.) as an issue and just think you're being fussy when rejecting the goods?

I've not had to go through a few monitors thank goodness, but are you paying the postage each time you return it?

I ALWAYS have issues with monitors/TV's.
Backlight bleed, dead/stuck/bright pixels, buzzing sound, dust under the screen.

I went through 3 Dell 1440p monitors before I was satisfied and kept the last one.

Here's my brief history with displays in the last 8 years.

First HDTV, Hitachi, stuck pixel.
Acer monitor, perfect.
BenQ monitor, stuck pixel.
Acer 120Hz 3D monitor, perfect screen but very rarely showed green graphical glitches until power cycled.
LG TV, perfect.
(OCUK) DGM 1440p, dead pixel(s), refunded.
Dell 1440p, 3 monitors with pixel defects.
Samsung TV, one dead pixel, unnoticeable from normal viewing distance so kept it.
Dell 5K, one dead pixel + a spec of dust under the screen. Will see what Dell say...

Call me picky but even a single dead pixel is unacceptable to me. You wouldn't accept a pair of glasses which have a tiny spec of permanent paint on the lens.

First one was perfect, AOC U3477.

Other 2 people with the same monitor were happy as well. Same goes with other 4 I know from other forums who had the Dell U3415W. Not one had to return it.

Dell are actually really good in that regard, as even if you don't purchase directly from them they will swap the monitors for you, which is what they did for me. No postage or anything, they would turn up, drop the new ones off and collect the old ones.

That's good to hear. I have had 4 monitors from Dell so far (out of 7 that I've used) and I knew they made quality products with service to add.

Pity they don't make gaming monitors but I don't think I'll need to upgrade for another few years, until this g-sync and freesync thing has settled down.

Over the years I've bought probably around 20 TFT monitors - had the sum total of 1 with a single dead pixel and that I remember only 2 that have had (very) minor backlight bleed issues.

Some I haven't been happy with for other reasons like super high input latency, etc. but thats another story.
