Including the big one at the front, how many motors has your car got?

I've got a '99 Astra and I can come up with 15 so far:

Engine
Starter motor
Engine fan
Front lights x 2 (alter angle of beam depending on load at the back)
Cruise control (alters throttle cable)
Air con
Windscreen washer pump x 2 (front and back)
Windscreen wipers x 2 (front and back)
Electric mirrors x 2
Electric windows x 2

There are probably more but thats a starter for 10 :)

First off the engine is not a ‘Motor’ nor is the AC Pump; it’s a compressor which is driven by the engine not electronically…. PAS Could be depends how its driven.

Front light level x2

AC Rad Fan Motor

Main Fan

Alternator (Motor in Reverse)

EPC Motor

ABS / TCS Pump is actually electric so it’s a motor

Washer Pumps x2

One engine, one starter motor, wipers work off engine vacuum. Technically the alternator is a motor too.

"Motor: A machine supplied with external energy that is converted into force and/or motion."

Fuel goes in, force comes out, ergo a motor.
 
Are the people saying two motors for the front wipers sure there are actually two? In my experience it's usually one motor with a linkage to drive both wipers.

A motor is anything that converts energy (chemical/electrical) to mechanical motion.

Its a motor if you're American, since i'm not american and i use a proper language its still and engine :)
 
The fact is its a huge running debate as to whats and engine and whats a motor, it seems to be a matter of opinion, the IEEE even published something on it years back because the debate was so heated.
