For our night do at our wedding we are making a play list of songs people have requested with some of ours own sugestions. We have not hired a proper dj as most of them around here tend to dribble down the mic. So we have got one of our mates to do that and hired the equipment.
how many tracks will we need for a disco from 7-12 ?
And have any of you got some good song sugestions?

TIA

You need about 16-17 tracks an hour to be safe....so around 90 in total!

I could give you a million song suggestions but it depends what type of feel your going for, personally all cheese would be banned from my wedding.

I would be putting lots of classic rock in there....Queen, The Stones, Cream etc...Then through to modern day with a few dance things from the 90's, put a lot of Brit pop Oasis, Blur, Pulp in there and 2000's stuff like The Killers etc.

Some rage against the machine, with some enya thrown in and some Anal ****.

Shold keep the guests on thie toes ;)

Honestly just plan how long you have the reception fo and plan a song for every 3 mins, so 20ish per hour. Get the playlist going and whack it through a PA system with some massive bass bins to keep people away from the stage :D

cheer mookjong. thats another reason for doing it ourselves as we dont want lame cheese crap,

Contrary to popular myth a catalogue DJ will play whatever you ask them to play.
If you don't ask them then they will play cheese.
Even though I've played in live bands for 38 years I've still booked at least a 100 catalogue DJs and everyone has played what I've told them to.
They've even kept their strobes at home when asked.
