Intersted in hearing from OCUKers that are Vegan and what's your favourite meal or snack?

My favourite meal is probably my home made carrot 'salmon', and I've been addicted to Cadbury plant since I arrived in the UK, finding it for 50p a block in B&M was not good for my stomach, hehe

Please no trash talk.

I'm semi-vegan and not by choice! I am allergic to all milk based products. That means no milk, no cheese, and very importantly, no whey. I say importantly, because whey is in a lot of products.

So, I tend to eat vegan a lot, because many non-vegan meals contain milk products.

The lucky thing is that I love veggies. I am quite happy having a standard meal, just without the meat.

My go-to snack's are cereals! Such as Weetabix, or Shredded Wheat. Those I eat with Hazlenut milk. Yum!

I haven't tried Cadbury plant, I didn't even know it existed! I will have to give that a go.

Fixed.

It's an important difference, saying you're semi-vegan will trigger a lot of vegans.

When I was vegan I used to really enjoy the Wicked Kitchen ready meals from Tesco. Also the Cauldron tofu was lovely, just add to some rice and veg for a simple meal.

I love a legume salad, usually with pork or chicken. I'm not vegan but like veg dishes for sides or occasionally as they are.

Quinoa Paella

Muhammara

Curried Pumpkin and Lentils

Kidney Bean Curry

Not vegan but have been making an effort to eat less meat. Usually have a lentil based dish once a week, big batch of dahl or soup, usually to complement something as a side or as a quick weekend lunch. Both are infinitely customisable

not vegan because i sometimes eat meat or cheese, however most meals i eat are vegan, sometimes vegetarian. The great thing with vegan diet is the variety, the diversity of flavors and techniques, and the freedom of expression in inventing completely new dishes rather than churning out the same old meat and veg . Therefore, it is impossible to choose a single dish.

Some favorites in include things like Indonesia satay salad with rice noodles, edamame and plantain. Or thai green mango salad, various indian dall recipes etc. Then there are things like butternut squash steaks with maple marinade, sweet n sour crispy cauliflower, Orange setein 'chicken', vegan mole beans, butternut squash risotto, vegan tacos, etc. Then you can just do substitutes, like lentil Bolognese etc. which often are far better than the meat counter parts.

Probably eat vegetarian at least 3 times a week i.e. chickpea, lentil , mixed/kidney beans or Bombay aloo. Need to try a few more dishes though, I prefer dishes with some spice though.

I'm not vegan but I do enjoy making chilli bean wraps, I also really enjoy Tesco's Mexican chilli bean soup when I'm looking for something quick and easy.

Most of the time vegan- but not entirely. Partner is vegan so I have no other chance sometimes. But I do like the vegan food and possibilities.
