To clarify the question in the title, using a strip plug adaptor (so 1 actual plug socket) how many PC base units and monitors can you safely run at one time?

Thanks.

Depends on the power useage... assuming its got a 13amp fuse you can pull around 3kW tho I wouldn't go over 2.5ish personally.

If you assume an average PC uses 300watt and average LCD uses around 55watt then atleast 7 PCs would be ok tho I'd probably baulk at 10. Tho if they are just used for 2D stuff internet, office, etc. then power useage would average more like 150watt each for the base unit.

If you have a bunch of PCs with high end multi core CPUs, GTX470/5850/6870 GPUs and or SLI along with a bunch of other stuff then in the event that they were all gaming at the same time then more like 5-7.

If they're low-mid end PCs, you can plug atleast 5 (this is assuming a max draw of about 500W per machine, which, unless your running multiple gfx cards, is an over-estimate)

As long as the total current draw through the adapter doesn't go about about 13A you should be fine (assuming your strip adapter has a 13A fuse in, as nearly all do) if you exceed this, all that will happen, is the fuse in the plug will be blown, if this happens, unplug at least one machine, replace the fuse, and try again. The fuse is there for safety reasons, so you won't be able to connect more items than is safe without blowing the fuse first.

I was planning to connect 2 monitors, 2 sets of speakers (guessing these wont make a massive difference) and 3 base units.
The PSUs are 2 x 750W and an 850W. So max possible would be 2,350W plus monitors and speakers.

Oh and a clock radio.

Sounds like I should be ok then.

Thanks.

Your unlikely to come even close to the max rating of those PSUs unless you have some real monster PCs - I'd be suprised if you exceeded 900watt tops unless your using 2 of the PCs to do folding or similiar.

yea, that'll be fine, it's very unlikely that your PCs will actually use the PSUs to their maximum load anyway, so you should have plenty of room there.

EDIT: Beaten too it :s
