How many possible host addresses are available for an IPv4 address..

..when the first octet are reserved for network addresses.

This is an assignment question I have. I have come to the answer 16777216 (which we have to give in scientific notation to 4 decimal places) so.. 1.678x10^7

Would this be correct?

Just looking for confirmation that I was on the right track.

Internet Protocol version 4 provides 232 (4,294,967,296) addresses. However, large blocks of IPv4 addresses are reserved for special uses and are unavailable for public allocation.

In reality due to NAT, lots of IP addresses are used multiple times in billions of different private networks.
