With a couple of things open I seem to have about 70 processes running, and using about 1.6gb of ram..is this about right?..seems a lot!

You're going to need to provide more information that that.. which OS, 32/64 bit, a list of the processes (screenshot of taskmanager or tasklist from command prompt) etc. If you're on Vista/Windows 7 they aim to use all your free memory rather than leave it wasted doing nothing.

I have about 100 on startup on Windows 7 64-bit so I'm sure 70 is fine.

Sorry should have said its Win7 64bit

Only reason I brought it up was becuae when using CS5 recently I have had a message coming saying in running low on memory etc etc, and it would advise to close it down.

I have 4 gb of OCZ Reaper, wondering if I should get more now, tho dont think I have the space for those huge heat sinks!

Also have an SSD so it boots up just fine, tho thinking about it I do have the CS5 Creative suite installed..so that prob about 10 processes right there.

Went thru the list and ticked off anything I dont need..but think I need the rest of them.

I think I discovered my Low Memory problem...I Was using Photoshop CS5 32bit, so im guessing it give the warning as its not able to use all the ram available.

WHich is abboying as the 32bit is able to load all of my plugins...whilst my 64 version might work better but cant recognice the old filter files.
