ok so i decided the other night after lending my laptop to a mate and him putting loads of crap onto it that i would reinstall windows.

firstly i ran dban and wiped the hdd clean and used the discs provided by sony to reinstall.

things going great except the sony discs come with al lthe rubbish that came on laptop... i.e norton 2005, trial of office 2003 etc etc etc

so i go thro and delete them and accidently delete one for FN button which i could not find anywhere on the net to redo.

so 2nd time round i reinstall....going fine...set windows update to auto and cant be bothered to keep going thro them.

now i get to where i am now...windows update complete needs to restart pc

fine i think thats normal so i press ok

only to find that when it restarts i get BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH and a message
stop: c0000135 > this application has failed to start because winsrv was not found, reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

so which update did this and why?
time for 3rd time lucky!!!!!

sorry yes using xp
to late now ive started a re-install using hte sony discs
just strange how its never done it before even few days ago when i updated everything fine just wasnt concentrating on which sony bits i was deleting!!!!
