How many watts do I need?

Hi

Putting together a PC for SO/HO use. Heaviest application likely to be photo editing, hobby video editing.

Proposed spec. is Asrock Conroe X-fire, E6300, 1 GB 667 DDR2, X1300 passive cooled, NEC DVD R/W and 4 160GB Samsungs in a 1+0 configuration.

Putting all this in an unused Antec Sonata case, which has the old 380W Truepower ATX v.1 power supply.

Question 1. Am I right in thinking this PSU will not work with the modern m/b?

Question 2. If I need a new PSU, how much watts do I need? Enermax Liberty 400 W / 500w catches my eye.

Thanks for any help

Ooh, i think ull be fine with that setup :) 380W should be enough.
Not entirely true. If its the old 20-pin you might need a 24-pin adaptor, maybe also SATA power connector/s, etc. Best thing to do is invest, sorry treat your new setup to a new PSU. For that spec, should not be less than 400W. Also from a reputable brand like Tagan ;)
