How many words have you typed in your entire life?

been working on PCs since I was about 8-9 or so, back on a 486DX (I think it was DX) with windows 3.1 and works.
did all my school work on it then wrote it up by hand as I wasn't alowed to hand in printed work :(

so prolly billions of words, plus all the keypresses from games etc

The people actually giving figures:

How the hell are you coming up with a number?!

I'd especially like a response from the guy who said 'billions' ;).

I have typed 400,000 words into one IRC channel alone in the past 12 months (that the bot there has logged)! Add to that the thousands of words typed here and coursework / programming and I am probably not far wrong stating at least a million in 12 months.

So having been a computer user for about 10 years now I would probably guestimate at 6-8 million words.

Thats a lot of words!

TKC. Ive typed 752,00x this month. Although it records keystrokes, its still pretty accurate.

ok, well lets say I've spent the last 12 years or so typing on my PC in one form or another at home, college, school, work etc.

college 9-4.30 every day (hour for lunch spent on PCs working)
Work 7-12/1(am) (self employed, work as long as I can every day then come home and do my paperwork etc).
1 000 000 000 000 (a billion iirc)
/ 12 years
/ 365 days a year (lets leave the leap years out)
/ 12 hours a day (lets say on average tho I'll bet I've spent longer than that most days.)

gives us 19025875 (aprox) words an hour, so I was way out......

but its loads anyway. prolly typed loads in my sleep too while I wasn't watching..........
