I am looking around on autotrader at used cars (530d sport) and they vary in price so much for similar cars, I can see the dealers overprice their cars, does anyone know how much they usually knock off th autotrader price?
I believe they like to leave room to haggle with?Nozzer said:
I don't have a clue[TW]Fox said:If you are looking at 530d's you need to find some sad obsessive muppet who spent a great deal of time studying the market to tell you what its worth.
Where would you find one of those...![]()

[TW]Fox said:IMHO manual is better than auto but thats my personal preference, technically speaking both gearboxes are better and the autobox is very suited to the diesel engine. Manuals are quite rare, it should be easy to find a 'nice looking' one though, simply get a facelift Sport model.
Problem is, you are looking at the absolute most desireable E39 you can get this side of an M5 - everyone wants a Sport, Auto, with Leather. Prices are high, residuals are strong.
What sort of money do you want to spend?
They are very expensive cars and are not good value for money - but if you are prepared to accept its going to be quite a bit older than anything else for the money they are stunning cars.
