How much AS 5 on E6600?

I have just done a little overclock = 2.7ghz but havent touched any voltage, am I ok at 53c??

Full is 60/59c during prime95 I cant seem to make my cpu go 100% though.. cpu usage only seems to go to 52%

Idle doesn't mean a lot, what's the coretemp at load? Your going to need some voltage to get the big numbers, 1.45v won't hurt, should get you 3.4GHz. But you don't want core temps to high or it'll start throttling back.

Download the sp2004 orthos, thats one core your firing up there mate.

BTW, if your looking for a good cooler the Tuniq is pretty good. Both core temps are low 50's at [email protected]

Ok have orthos and cpus at 100%

coretemp says 64c.
Let it run awhile for temps to stabilise. I'd keep a very close eye on temps if you overvolt that, its kinda high for stock.

The grin of rice AS5 thing only works if the cpu's flat, some of these C2D's are concave. The HSF only touched the edges, see the problem? Always check contact the first time you mount the HSF. Straight edge check on the cpu is a good idea, see any daylight? I always put a very thin layer on, with good contact you can almost see the CPU writing in the TIM on the HSF.

Can I ask what temps you get with coretemp? I cant understand why this is happening my old a64 x2 3800 was nowhere near this and the case cooling is fine. Its a antec P180 case with a 120m fan sucking air out of the back and one blowing on to the hard drives.

Both coretemps are low 50's at [email protected] with orthos blend. That's with all fans on mid setting, Tuniq 1600RPM (2000max), so the PC's silent ish. I can get is lower, but the background noise starts to get noticeable.

Ah I just installed Everest and its the same as yours.. ie cpu 37c but core 1 = 52c and cire 2 = 52c.

Does this mean im more or less normal? and how is this worked out? where do they get 38c from if both cores are 52c?

A little OT and perhaps a retarded question.
The AC guide on how to apply AS5 on A64 cpu's says 'slap some in the middle, does the same apply for Dual-Core? 1&1/2 rice grain in the middle? Are both cores in the center of the chip?

Yes they are. It's still only one chip in the middle. You'd probably need a microscope to see both cores.

Is that the temperatures when fully loaded with something like dual prime?

All its doing is reading the sensors it finds, the lowest cpu reading is the motherboard sensor under the chip. The other two are the readings from the chip itself and the ones to take notice of.

Fornowagain mate, I have been into ******s tonight and bought those fans. They are pretty good, I have to say and they just screwed right on the heatsinks.

At the mo my temps are @ 42c Thats a drop of around 10c.. Im happy with that. I will post pics shortly.
