How much better is an7800x3d over a 7900x

I currently have a 7900x and now I only game, would it make sense to switch to a 7800x3d, is the 7800X3d that much better than a 7900x? I see it as around a £150-200 outlay considering what I can get back for my 7900x

Depends on how you would define 'much better'. The 7800X3D is a better pure-gaming CPU, but only you can answer if the £150-200 outlay is worth it for the gains. At 1080p the gains will be significant, however looking at your setup you'll prob be in the 1440-2160p range, and at this resolution, the gains will be lower, but could still be in the 5-20% range...
