How much better is HDMI?

HDMI is to sharp for me and shows the jaggy's to much, really shows on the dashboard blades also, so i continue to use VGA as that softens the edges giving a much better picture IMHO

Jaggies on the dashboard? How exactly? I'm using HDMI with sharpness set to 100/100, and I have no jaggies on the dashboard.

Anyway I prefer the sharpness and clarity, the jaggies aren't really noticeable in most games for me, and you get much better clarity in the textures...etc

Component all the way for me too as HDMI is way to sharp on my set

But as everyone has said it is very much down to the tv that your using, for example i have a Viewsonic TV and component looks far better that HDMI, and a family member has a Sony TV where HDMI looks far better so its always best to try them both and decide for yourself

I had to use component on my Philip 32" 7000 series.

Looks pretty good, no different to HDMI I thought.

HDMI looks fine to me on my 36" HansSpree, although I havent bothered comparing it other connections (didn't see the point as it looked nice ;))

Why does everyone have the sharpness set to full :rolleyes:

Maximum sharpness does not mean you get a good picture. On my tv sharpness is at the minimum value, and for the other tv settings threads I have seen, I don't think any recommend a tv being set too max.

Depends on the TV. Some apply a sharpening filter at 100 while for some 100 just means no low pass filter is applied.

you mean 37"?

Do you get any vsync issues? with HDMI or VGA as the 37" hannspree is well known for it, mine suffers tearing on VGA.

er yeah, I always forget the size lol.
Not that I've noticed, although TBH I don't know what that would look like :o
But I do only use HDMI1 and Scart1.

I dont have my samsung set to 100 sharpness it look horrid at that and using hdmi should give you a sharp picture anyway so i use sharpness of about 20 .
