I've been thinking about a jump to i5 for a while, but the jump would set me back over £250, I was wondering how good is this CPU?
AMD Phenom II X4 Quad Core 965 Black Edition "125W Edition" 3.40GHz (Socket AM3)
how much better is it than my;
AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4100 Black Edition 3.60GHz (Socket AM3+)
??
I can max most games @ 1080p with my current build but rarely go over 40fps, how much of an FPS boost would the Phenom be? I know the Bulldozer is pretty bad.
My motherboard is: Asus M5A78L-M LX AMD 760G (Socket AM3+) DDR3 MicroATX
So would I be able to just slip the Phenom II X4 into that processor? It is AM3 whereas my Mobo is AM3+
I run a XFX HD 6850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card and intend to upgrade to a HIS HD 7850 IceQ X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card.
The reason I ask is because an i5 can be in the future for me, as at the minute I'd prefer to just pay £90 for a considerably better processor than £250 for an i5, one day I'll hit Intel but that'll be when I'm better at not wasting my money!
Thanks!
