ok im going to set up an old pc soon but am a little bit worried about the how much the plug can take

so far i have:
1. This PC (see sig)
2. speakers 2.1 (780w PMPO) (shares pc kettle cable)
3. cable modem (no router its direct cable)
4. moniter (19" LCD 4:3)
5. Printer
6. External 160 GB HDD (kept off most the time but adapter is on)
7. 2 PLUG extension with 32" LCD TV and DVD player
DVD player will be unplugged (and maybe got rid of) to connect 2nd PC

the 2nd pc specs are/will be:
P4 3GHz HT
1 GB RAM DDR2
RS400-A mobo (ECS/ELITEGROUP)
250 GB HDD
7300GS 256 mb
basic sound card (off topic: built-in sound broke can anyone help with this?)
300w (may use 500w with new case thats coming) (and yes the old case is so bad/old that it just needs replacing) :)

so will that lot be safe off one plug? been running the current setup for a few year now so i know its safe so far but will the 2nd pc tip it over?

230V @ 13A = 2990W.

Each device will have the voltage and current rating on them, so you can work it out.

so its good then
more questions: my wall mains has 2 plugs on it, is it safer to split the power more evenly across them, is it 3000w per plug or do the 2 just share the same circuit?

EDIT: only using 1 'mains' plug with a 6 plug adapter for posted stuff, in the other one i have a 4 plug adapter with VERY low power stuff in (mostly power adapters) for 'unused' stuff

the circuit is rated at 32 amps...the outlet is rated at 13 amps max per plug...your worrying over nothing unless you want to plug 4+ electric heaters in to keep you warm while you game.....if you have a decent fuse board with rcd's they will tell you if its overloaded when they trip

ok panic over

new topic: (still about power but more related to this forum) :)

the new case im ordering comes with a 500w psu LINK have read on other sites that this psu is very bad quality and theres a lot of them going BOOM is this true? would i be better using the 300w (which i know works)

how can you have nearly 3000 posts and not know that case and psu are crap?

well i just needed a really cheap case to replace old one was hoping to spend £10 on a case only but can't find cheap one anywhere, also this is the first case i have ever bought from ocuk :) (i always get my all my other parts from here now just never cases)

lowest saff wattage a single socket can output is 2800W, and thats if your house is at 216.2V witch is the very lowest.

all of your stuff will work with easy not even coming near, but it is advise that you keep your kettel pluged in directly to the wall socket (advisable have as much of the most powerful stuff you can plug into the wall sockets in the wall sockers)

but you will still bealbe to power all of this of a single socket and then a lot more ontop.

if you can advoid useing heating object on the same socket as your PCs (just for safty of older PCs but should still be no problem if you dont do this)
