How much can i overclock my CPU?

Hi i have a: Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail

I want to overclock it and just wanted to know what would be the recommended amount to do it by?

The cooler i have is: Akasa AK-CC4007EP01 Nero 3 CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/1155/1156/1366/2011/AMD AM2/AM2+/AM3/FM1)

overclocking is really just trial and error.. there's never any certain 'speed' you can get it to. with that cooler you're probably good for 4ghz at least

there's plenty of 'overclocking guides' on the internet to go off of but as basics go, up it 100mhz, see it if boots, test it with something like aida64 or prime 95, run that for say 20 minutes, if it doesn't crash then up the mhz by 100 again and repeat, keep doing so until the tests aren't stable and then up the voltage
 
note: some people can get their chips up to 4.5ghz on stock voltage all day, some people can't even up their clock speed by 100mhz without a massive boost in voltage

What motherboard do you have?

While you won't get an massive overclock due to your cooler, you'll get something out of it that's for sure.

Depending on the motherboard, you could either use preset overclock profiles or do it manually

4.0-4.2ghz should be a good starting point, keep bumping the voltage up by tiny amounts until stable and increase the overclock 100mhz at a time, eventually you'll hit a point where you can't get it stable even with a big increase in voltage, that's the point where you dial it back a notch and run it with a sensible voltage. Ivy Bridge and Haswell tend to have a 'wall' where once you hit it there's not much you can do to get higher if 100% stability is a priority.

Looking at your cooler I wouldn't increase voltage too much anyway, just try to get as high as you can on close to stock voltage.
