Hi, I'm a gamer but I also do quite a bit of video editing folrom GoPro footage I've taken. (1080p60fps). The videos are usually 3-5mins long and have several dozen cuts, sometimes effects but not often. I use cyberlink power director 14.

When I'm rendering the final video I always uncheck any GPU rendering as CPU rendering is cleaner. It only takes a few minutes to fender the video usually. Sometimes if I use a lot of slowmos or stabilisation I get some buffering during editing which is a bit annoying.

I'm looking to buy whatever the next GoPro is, and it's likely it will film at 4k, 60fps. In which case, this is what I will use.

Will my CPU handle this? And how much better are these 6,8,10 core extreme chips at doing it?

a x99 chip like a 5820k will be about 3 times quicker.

i do videos daily in 4k and edit them.depends what you doing and how often to whether you need to or is it casual.

4k is a big step up and files are very big.
