How much difference ?

The difference is only significant when it comes to high resolution, at lower resolution it performs quite similarly to other high end cards.

There are plenty of reviews about.
 
I went from a 2900 to a 3870 X2 and tbh the 2900 could hold its own in most games v my X2.But the newer games such as cod4 i see a 20%-30% gain at 1680x1050 and most games feel a lot smoother and run that bit faster and min framerate has gone up a lot on what ever game i play.12** 2900 XT with 3dmark X2 144* with 3dmark.It dont give of as much heat and is noway as loud as my 2900 was.I am happy with the upgrade only did it as got good money for my 2900 of a friend (£120 3 weeks ago).Also you can find them for as little as £250 VAT added.Well thats what mine cost 3 weeks ago new.Also the X2 seem's to handle AA/AF much much better than my 2900.

did a upgrade from 2x hd2900 xt to 2x hd3870x2 and have to agree with skunksta 100% also with these hd 3870x2 we havent seen the best of them yet but will do as drivers mature.plus there is no shame in keeping the hd 2900xt exellent card.

not to be funny but didnt you think to tell you friend it was not worth 120gbp and he could get a better card for that money? 3870xt 8800gt ? i mean he is your friend after all not some auction punter.
 
Been though all this once in a thread about a cheap psu to power it.But as you asked the Q again i made him a pc for £0 (as he is not pc friendly just game friendly)and as i made it for £0 asked him to buy my card instead of a 3870 which at the time would have cost him around £124 to the door the 2900 is the same card - the power/heat/loud fan and a few tweaks so he was not done over by me plus as i have looked at the date i ordered the parts for his pc about 5 weeks and a few days ago.

BTW he new of the heat/power/loud fan as he played games on my pc with it in many times.Also are you his wife undercover your sounding like her :P

Itll be just like you adding another 2900 XT and going Crossfire, as thats all the X2 is, its 2x 2900 XT's in crossfire, but on one board. :)

It was a joke hence the :P .Look at your own comment for "catty" meow.And your first comment could have been took as smart ass but i never did just answered your Q and put a "joke" at the end.Also trolling is what i call jumping on a thread and not even given the OP any feed back just jumping on my back
