How much left after bills?

Hi all,

I bought my first house last July, it needed loads of work but I am hoping to move in by July this year at the very latest (the point i have to start paying council tax ). I have worked out each month after paying the mortgage and bills i will have £414 left over for food, petrol and general living.

If I manage to get by spending £30 p/w on food and £20 p/w on petrol this will leave me around £214 each month to get by I suppose.

I was just wondering what other people on here have left over each month after bills. I am hoping to get promoted in my job later this year after having talks with my manager so hopefully I will have more spare cash by then but does anyone think I am being unrealistic with anything above and moving into a house on such a tight budget.

Me and my girlfriend have been together for coming up 3 years but I doubt she will move straight in due to still being very close to her parents and my house being quite a distance away but we will see, I think she will help me out with food and stuff but I dont expect anything if she is not living with me.

Any comments would be great,

Thanks, Sam

This is not the reason I want her to move in, I would love for us to live together but I think its key to take things slow as moving in together is a massive step in a relationship. I can manage on my own until the time is right, all I am saying is no doubt she will help out with food and stuff if she is staying a few nights a week so my left over money is not set in stone.

I originally called this thread how much left after bills, someone must have changed it.

I think the problem posting this type on thread on here is I guess a lot of members are still living at home with parents.
