I have always worked for companies rather than doing anything directly myself, someone recently asked me to give them a quote for creating a website for them - a one off.

Site will be simple, just a web presence for their business with a contact section and the ability for them to upload photos of their work, I will just re-skin an existing CMS and add the modules that they need plus train them how to use it.

Thoughts on a price? Coz I really have no clue.

Work out how much you'd be happy with per hour, then work out the number of hours and give them a quote based on that.

This!

On top of that however, don't forget to add 30-40% extra time for contingency.
In the end, if you didn't need any of that contingency time and you feel like you'd be ripping your client off by still charging for it, you can deduct it from the final bill.

The client will know that you give realistic timescales, and won't overcharge them on hours.

Alternatively, consider it a bonus on a project completed under budget and on time and keep it.

But then you risk of them going with someone who charges 25% less than you because they don't add a safety net.
