Ok, so I know it's apparently normal for the iphone 4 to have a loose fitting/rattling sound around the autofocus mechanism for the camera, it was the same with the 3GS.

I would like to know If it's normal for it to be quite audible when placing the phone down on a a hard surface top-right corner first. It just sounds a little too "rattly" to me :(.

Let me know what yours is like please folks. Thanks.

No rattle with mine

Tap the top right corner on a hard surface and see if there is a sound as though something is loose. If not, it might be that your autofocus is stuck. Otherwise it would indicate that the hundreds of users with a rattle should indeed get a replacement as you can have a rattle free phone!

I took it out of the case, first tapped it with my finger, then tapped the top right corner against my desk. The only thing that was making any kind of rattling noise was the sleep button. When I tapped it with my finger on the button I couldn't hear any kind of rattle. And my auto focus works fine.

meh, I'm not bothered :)

I have made an appointment with an apple genius on monday. I will let you all know what they consider to be a normal rattling sound. I just checked with a friend of mine and his doesn't rattle at all.
