So after watching the Drink Drive program on ITV tonight, I have a question:

How much would you be comfortable drinking before you take to the road?

One half pint? One glass of wine? Two? A whole bottle?

As for me, I'm won't drink anything whatso ever as I want to know that if I **** up then it's my ability and not any other factor.

Edit: And another question: How long after a bender the night before do you leave before driving?

1 larger shady is all I will drink if I'm driving. I used to drink 1 pint and drive a few years ago, but not anymore, it's just not worth it ...even if I am under the legal limit, I don't feel comfortable doing it.

short distance, 1 pint... long distance none. i know my limits and i get drowsy after a bit of drink. its rare that i even have one though for that reason...

would be so much easier if they just said NO alcohol when driving... cut out the 'should i, shouldnt i' bunch.

Same here, if I am going to drive I touch nothing alcoholic.
Same Here.

I have driven after one pint before and just didn't feel in full control so haven't drank alcohol and then driven since.

If i know im going to be driving, I don't go out with the car, i'll get a lift.

If i'm out at work, and we go down the pub for lunch, I will think nothing of having a pint then driving the half a mile back to work.

sometimes have a pint after work and drive back the shortish journey but tbh i still feel "dodgy" doing that .

i too think they should just make the rule NO alcohol

if im going out drinking i leave the key at home , no chance of drink driving and no chance of loosing it ( my only one :o )

Generally zero, but I'll drink a bottle of beer or a small glass of wine if it's with some food and I get a good hour afterwards for the liver to deal with it.

Biggest problem isn't drink driving anymore, it's drink-drink-drink-taxi-sleep-driving. One unit takes an hour to get out of your system. A pint has 2.5 units in it, it doesn't take much for that hang-over in the morning to still be the tail-end of your bender.

Drink 10 pints down 2 half litre bottles of vodka, 10 tequilla slammers plus 2 bottles of vodka to go whilst driving, so far I've only ran over 6 people the record is 8.

(This is a joke btw)

good point ,

i try and avoid driving after a heavy night ( or are too ill to even move ) but i do know people who get up and go out to work etc early .

LIke most people here, if I drink anything alcoholic I don't drive.

I have driven a few times after a pint, but on reflection I came to the conclusion it's not worth it, so now I will only drive if I haven't touched any alcohol.

I NEVER drive if im going to be drinking. Can you imagine being involved in an accident and thinking ... i wonder if i hadnt drank that pint i might've been able to react quicker etc
Not worth it imo

At most one pint although only if I'm drinking it slowly over the course of an hour or so. I won't neck a whole pint in 20 mins and then drive.

Reading the replies another question seems to have arisen:

How long after a bender do you leave before driving?

I generally leave a good 8-10 hours and a decent breakfast.

two points of well spaced out mild lager

im very sceptical about the results in that programe, as ive personally found very different. I can reverse park in tight spaces without a problem after ive had 2. Dont get me wrong, i would never drink more than 2, and when i do drink, i space those 2 out across a whole night.

I always wonder what exactly is the drink drive limit and how do you know what is the right amount to stay under. It was said earlier that a pint is 2.5 units but is that Carlsberg at 4% or Stella at 5.2%. If its the former how many units is there in a Stella?

I dont generally drink, apart from the odd pint at lunch in work, and drive
