.. an ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 to an nVidia FX5900

Just curious as ive been in Rwanda so long ive pretty much lost track technology

I recently bought a laptop with the radeon with 512mb of ram but the fx card uses 256mb of that. The fx900 has 128mb but the desktop has 1gb of ram.

If i bought another 1 or 2gb of ram for the laptop would the radeon pee all over the 5900?

Also.... would the radeon be able to handle say.... Stalker? I'll be pretty broke when i return so wont be able the purchase a decent pc for a while.

Cheers

the radeon graphics are x300 core, its crap, i mean utterly useless, the 5900 though old is far more powerful. trying to remember all the numbers but we're looking at what a 8 pipe 5900 card with most likely higher mem bus/bandwidth compared to a , if you're lucky a 4 pipe card, maybe 2, not sure. looks like its a 4pipe card, so its gonna have at best around half the power of the 5900 card, at worst its a very crippled lower clocked card that doesn't have dedicated memory in a system without enough memory to run games smoothly.

Ok thanks, looks like im going to have to buy a new card when i get home, maybe the 7900

Emlyn i see in your sig that you have 2 x 256mb 7800GTX - are they running together? If so, is there a great improvement in performance?
Also you have an Antec Sonata, is that the black case with the springy hard disk bays? Im trying to remember what stuff i left at home, i vaguely remember having one of those

The only games I have played on that system are WoW, Guild Wars and X3... Haven't even benchmarked!
I recently moved to Edinburgh and for the time being my PC has been left at my parents. :(

The hard-disk bays in the Sonata were sort of weird if I remember, they are sort of clicked into place and can easily be clicked out again... Curse my memory!
