How much for a bonnet respray?

Hi all,

Never have had a paint job on any of my cars so am very clueless with prices. My bonnet is badly faded no way of bringing it back and I have put up with it for a while now but it just gets depressing when I spend ages cleaning the car and the front end looks like a mess

So I just need the top of the bonnet resprayed in yellow, which is its current colour. The underside doesnt need spraying as its fine.

My best quote is £100 which I feel is fine and will pay that, but thought I best make sure before booking in.

I take it youve tried some cutting polish?

Spent ages trying to get it back with all kinds of cleaning poducts. Best one was some yellow tcut which gave me the impression it had worked but then it just went back to faded paint after I rubbed it off

TBH its almost white in some areas it really is too far gone I think. Ill get a picture in a sec.

Just took this close up picture of some of the areas where it has turnt almost white, its like this all over. There isn't much paint left which is why I dont think you could possible bring it back, I mean all the rubbing in the world wont generate paint ??

I think its just oxidised rather than it being thin, either way it might save ya £100

I'll give anything a go, what would I need to try ?

So far I have tried regular T-Cut, then tried a Yellow T-Cut, both times followed by a coat of polish. Just looked like a very shiny pale yellow. Very pale... the difference is not slight its hughly different. Even in my sig youll notice the faded bonnet if you look closely and thats a tiny pic.

I just went out and got hold of my meguiars paint cleaner and gave it tons of rubbing but didnt do anything...however I did notice that some spots of what looks red were showing through the yellow, very faint but there nontheless. See this picture -

This is why the bonnet looks so different in colour, all other panels dont have this red'ish primer behind them.

It is primer I take it....?

Lets go under the bonet and scratch it (obviously I really have fallen out with this panel) -

Now im asuming its not common practice to use a red primer with a yellow paint ? Im inclined to belive this bonnet was once red and has been resprayed ?? I mean it would answer the question as to why its always looked a total different colour.

How strange, rusty cars being classed as 'cool'.... never would have seen that comming !
