I currently have a P4 2.4Ghz Northwood 800FSB (512k) Cache CPU and in a few months time Im gonna be upgrading my system fully.

I was just wandering how much improvement in performance I will get if I buy the "Intel Core 2 DUO E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz"?

I know the increase will be a lot but is there any benches with my CPU/System against the Conroe?

Thx

simple answer, a truly sickning increase in performance, if the E6600 can beat overclocked FX62 at everything, the FX62 will demolish any netburst CPU and absolutely anything, do the math conroe beats FX62 which truly obliterates netburst chips (northwood, prescott, smithfield, etc)

No proper benchies atm, until the end of NDA, but I'd agree that it'll be a big improvement over your old system.

I had a 2.4C about 3 years ago so its getting on now.

I would say well over twice the speed of a 2.4Ghz northwood on single threaded applications that dont even make use of Conroe's second core. Especially in gaming, where it seems that the 1.83Ghz conroe can outperform a 3.73Ghz P4 EE (965)
