First post here :)..... under my new nickname anyway :p

Does anybody know how much the iMac lower end model (normal price - £1149) would be after Higher Education discount?

when i bourght my 20" with HE discount it didnt work out at normal price minus VAT, dont think that is quite right justin. Just give em a ring and they will tell you but i believe from what i remember the 20" 2.4 is £825 and the 24" 2.4 is £999. It is a 13% discount

Nah, I mean around that price, give or take a few percent. You will still pay VAT etc.

I've just had a look and for me the price of the £1149 iMac (that's the cheapest of the 24 inch ones in the base configuation) is £999.93. No guarantees it's the same for everyone but it probably is.

You can go into the store and get the full discount as well, i did it the other day with my girl friends student ID, got 15% off a MBP :)

Buy Apple care, you get it for 58.75 as a HE uni student, and if you don't buy it then it will cost a lot more in future and if you don't buy it you can end up regretting if some thing was to go wrong like the HDD fails or the monitor has some kind of glitch.

As people have said it's really not necessary if you buy from the HE store - you get a 3 year warranty as standard. The entrance page to the store tells you about it. Upgrading to Applecare (for £58.75) basically gives you the phone support and nothing else extra.

So the middle 15" macbook Pro will be around 1390.00 then? With HE... I’ll be getting one for Christmas really can't wait, so won't to try OSX after using windows for so long...

Also do apple do January sales?

Cheers
