How much is this book worth?

I have a 1909 original print edition of Robert Burns poetry, its a little worn, but all pages still in the book, spine is a little loose at the top.

Anyone know of a book shop that can restore/buy the book so that it doesn't deteriorate further and will be kept in safe hands for those to view later on in years to come?

i know of a few in London.... they will also give you a valuation... one good one is:

http://www.peterharringtonbooks.com/contact.asp

off the top of my head not more than £1,000

i have a first edition dickens (David Copperfield) printed in 1850 i think. its worht around £1,000

it all depends on how widely printed it was and therefor how many survive....

*wrong*

I am not fussed about how much it is worth due to it being such a classic book, I just don't want to ruin something that others might find more use out of.

If that makes sense.

I rang up a book specialist, apparently the edition i have is NOT an original but a re print which was done in 1909, therefore making the book pretty much worthless :(

Oh well, will keep it in the family then :(

You could use it as a door stop.

I don't understand. You say you aren't fussed about it's value, then when you later find out it has no value you are upset?!

I'm not upset, just miffed off at my self for thinking it was worth anything lol.

Will get pics when i get home

I should have checked the OP more carefully. 1909? No chance that was ever going to be an original, fella.

Could still be a nice piece of work, though. Some of those facsimile prints are really good, especially the ones around the turn of the century. I've got a cracking print of Boswell's Life of Johnson.
