Whats your ideal prices that you would pay for the following:
Code:
[b]Xbox 360[/b]
Console Premium: £
Games: £

[b]Playstation 3[/b]
Console with HDD: £
Games: £

[b]Wii[/b]
Console: £
Games: £

What would you consider to be a fair price for the above? Copy the above and fill in the blanks.

Here's mine:

Xbox 360
Console Premium: £270 - Spot on price for me tbh
Games: £25 - £30

Playstation 3
Console with HDD: £300 - I wouldnt pay no more for a console.
Games: £25 - £30

Wii
Console: £130 - 150
Games: £20 - £25

Paul ...

Xbox 360
Console Premium: £250
Games: £30

Playstation 3
Console with HDD: £300
Games: £30

Wii
Console: £150
Games: £25-30

Never more than £280 for a console, would buy the wii for £150. I hate the 360 game sprice so I buy second hand only and never pay more than £22 per game :)

(except for dead rising when that comes out :( )

So does the Wii.

My Ideal price for all new gen consoles is between £120-140. However I am always prepared to pay more for the first console out in each generation. So the PS2 I paid £333 for (I did not get the dream cast because I knew it would fail) and the 360 I paid £209 for. Games are probably about £20 -£30 depending on how much I want them.

I am so set up for disapointment this time round.

Xbox 360
Console Premium: £280
Games: £35 - £40

Playstation 3
Console with HDD: £350
Games: £40

Wii
Console: £150

£50 is FAR too much for sofeware but I'll be forking out £40 for Dead Rising :o

I think the beauty of the xbox is that you can pick and chose which components you have, ie wifi, hdd, wireless controllers. With PS3 they seem to be bundling all the most expensive components in to one unit, regardless of if you can/want to use them.

I agree with the prices in the original post, though I would probably go to £350 on the PS3 when good games come out.

Software price is my main issue, I hate paying more then £30 for games and try to buy everything second hand now.

A souped up gamecube is more expensive to produce for nintendo than the 360 for microsoft. Or were you just referring to wifi? (also that isnt wii bashing, i can't wait for the wii to be released!!)

Either way I was very disappointed that the xbox didnt have wifi built in, because its not difficult or expensive, I mean the DS has wifi built in!!. £60 is a rip for the adaptor as well even if it is 'a good bit of kit'
Just WiFi mate :)

Yeah the lack of WiFi on the 360 is a bit of a kick in the teeth after spending all that money but the 360 is designed to be completely modular to save us money if we don't want a feature.

i think that what people are forgetting is that apart from ninty, sony and MS lose ££ on every console sold, they recoup this via software and accessory sales, i like the 360 approach of buy which bits you want, compared to the sony your having this or nothing (i am aware there is a core and premium though)

i would love to pay £30 for a game, but the only system i can see that being feasable for is the WII, with quirky games with low development costs

as for the hardware itself, id conside £300 for the ps3, £240 for the 360 and £100 flat for the WII

Low prices probably cos im a cheapass student, but £300 for a console is way too much, id much rather wait like i did with the PS2 and xbox360.
Got a PS2 for £36 and an xbox360 for the equivalent of £200.

There was a post here recently which disputed the conventional wisdom that Sony lose money on every PS2 sold :)

On the other hand, if you do want the optional extras then you have to pay over the odds. My Xbox 360 premium with wifi cost me £330. And £70 for a 20GB HDD? That's outrageous.

Either way is going to stuff someone up. :)

That's only recently though, no?

The tech is so old that I'd be very miffed if sony didn't make a profit on each one sold within the last 2 years.
