how much is your house insurance

we live in a 5 bed detached house,

Just had the renewal quote through @ £574 for the year, is this normal or does it seem high ?

cover wise is pretty normal we don't have a lot of valuables, no jewellery, just electronics (laptop, TV, ipads, computer etc.)

House insurance itself is usually not a lot, it's the content that adds to it and how you want it insured. Jewelry, Bikes etc add significant amounts. If I take my bikes off then mine drops to sub £200 for instance.

interesting, I have a few specific items listed, gaming PC, laptop, mountain bike, speakers, etc.


related question, in the case of a total loss event (house fire for example), I assume the insurer wants proof of all of the items that you own, how do you document things like this, is it literally a case of going around the house taking pictures of everything ?

just renewed with Privilege for £455
it increased my premium with admiral by about £25 because I removed the house from our multicar policy, but its still a decent saving
