Title says it all really.

I'm 18, Full time employment, have my own car, 1years NCB on bike, and I'm getting (what I think to be) crap quotes (£1k fully comp - £684 TPFT - £493 TP).

Are they high prices for my age or is anybody out there the same age-range with similar bike paying less for insurance?

Worth waiting til I'm 19 (december) and getting insurance then?

Any advice/replies are appreciated :)

Haven't bought a bike yet, but looking at the ER6F as they seem to be one of the lowest insurance group bikes of my liking.

I guess the quotes I'm getting aren't too bad then! Thanks for the replies ;)

Probably not worth making another thread for; but is there any harm on putting 33bhp restrictor kits on e.g. ER6F / GSX650F / SV650's / XJ6's ? I've been reading up and getting mixed views on it.

Yeah, if you're under 21 you need to have the bike restricted to 33bhp, cost £100 for my ER6F. After 2 years of passing your test you can have the restrictor removed (or if you reach 21 - whichever comes first).

Although it's all changing with the new 2013 rules now, which will only effect those who pass after they come into force.
