How much of a change would this make

Well, putting off the upgrade now for as long as i can to X2 939. Im thinking of doing this:

-buying 2GB of geil value ram for my current rig in the sig, and carrying it over to my x2 build a lil later on.

-buying a new mobo like a nf7-s to clock my 2500 to a 3200.

Would it be worth it? Would i notice the difference or am i just better of waiting and saving the money for the upgrade in at least 6-7 months. I am a gamer, like BF2 and i do some video encoding here and there. I just want to make sure that im doing the right thing.

Hope you guys get the drift of what im trying to say.

cheers mateys :D

I have the A7N8X-E Deluxe and have my 2500+ running at 2.2ghz just fine with a single stick of pc3200. So your board should clock the chip fine as well.

hi my board is the via chipset which doesn't allow you to lock pci/agp frequencies..

thats what im trying to do, do you think its worth the bother?

You may be lucky, but have a look at this thread.

In brief..."they go for silly money"

IME anything that suddenly stops being made seems in demand.
We all know it's a great mobo, and lots of people have socket A chips lying around, so I expect you'll be in competition with many others.

Good luck.

yeah, ive looked in certain places on the net and they aren't cheap, not even second hand :( Might just have to wait serveral months to go X2.:(

If i were you then i would pick up a cheap overclockable motherboard for your chip and the ram. The memory will deffinatly make a huge difference! As for the processing power, well i used to have the old barton chocked to 2200Mhz and i noticed a good difference between stock and them speeds!

What about this one.... Found it on the B Grade section. I know it's micro but i'm unsure how it'll clock. It is nForce2 though!
