Ive had my 7870 since march 2012,ive wanted to upgrade it every time a new card has come out,but it still works fine with games like fallout 4,the witcher 3,mgsv,dark souls 3 ,the list goes on.

On med/high im getting 40 to 60 fps in most of them games and my cpu is i7 920 2.66 mhz.

And im playing forza 6 apex on med settings and it looks and runs really well.

The amd 7870 has been a fantastic card for me.

Hope that helps.

It as good as matches the PS4 gpu so you won't see games it can't run for a good few years and as you know you only need to tweak settings anyway.

Mine has been overclocked from day one to 1100 coreclock 1300 memory ,and its been fine,it could proberly goto higher, maybe 1200 core 1400 memory.

Default clock on my sapphire card is 1000 core 1200 memory.

It's a decent / good 1080p card. I had an Asus model that would do 1250 ish and 1400 ram. Should be fine for a lot of games for a while. Mine went into a build I did for a mate and he's very happy with it.

great guys at least I know I have a decent gaming pc for a while. I need to get reading up on this over clocking but I will do a good bit of research first as I don't want to kill anything :)

I have got the cooling side sorted out, I have fan controller with temp probes plus 2 intake fans on the front and 2 exhaust 140mm fans on the top/roof of the case.

My Gpu and memory tend to get the hottest, the GPU peaks at 53oC and my memory normally peaks about 48oC

The other places I have probes are the harddrive which never gets into the 30oC's and the cpu area which is normally mid 30oC's

Hopefully these are acceptable temps

Ofc keep your eyes open on MM for any 290X going for around £100 (non reference one). It will be a huge improvement that will serve your needs well for years to come.
