How much of a performance upgrade would extra RAM give?

I'm thinking of changing my 1 Gb of 233mhz to 2Gb of 400mhz, will that affect my game play? I play a lot of flight sims

Currently running my xp 2800+ at 184 x 12.5

Running 2 gig at 400DDr would give a boost as XP CPUs prefere a higher FSB rather than a higher CPU clockspeed (unlike A64), Drop your Multi and see the highest stable FSB you can get then raise the multi till you lose stability.
I found LOMAC and IL2/PF to have considerably lower load times with 2Gig of RAM and better allround performance. PF load time is around 6-10 seconds but thats with SATA2 drives with command queueing.

more ram = less need to use the pagefile = faster loading times = the win!

With 2Gb of RAM, you can turn the pagefile off. It actually speeds up XP!

Flight Sims are generally speaking very CPU limited, so perhaps saving your cash and getting a nice AMD A64 is the better option?
