How much of an upgrade would i get for ~£200?

My current monitor is a Dell 22" 1680x1050 2209WA and i've always been very happy with it and enjoyed the colours of the IPS panel.

If I were to buy 24" 1080p monitor for £200-250 would the higher res offer a noticeable improvement for the money? I know that might be hard to answer because 'noticeable' can mean different things to different people.

Also bear in mind that I have just bought a 280x (see sig for other specs) and wouldn't be able to crossfire after spending the cash on a new monitor.

There isn't that much of a difference between your res and 1080P in truth and a hard call. Dell are a good brand as well, so I imagine the image you have to be pretty decent.

Screen real estate is always a bonus but is it worth spending to get a slightly bigger screen and a few more pixels.

Yeah im not that bothered about getting a bigger screen I just wasnt sure if my 280x would be under utilised at 1050 and whether 1080 actually offers a significantly sharper image.
