How much oxygen is there...

I remember years ago doing the PADI advanced thingy where you test the effects of narcosis by doing puzzles and answering a few questions (on a slate, obviously) at 30 metres.

One of the questions was 'Name an animal beginning with 'N'. Had me completely bloody stumped - on land too :D Eventually came up with Newt.

I do not believe that was a fair test :p

hmm I can't think of one lol

I'm not saying it wasn't at least a bit silly.
What I am saying is its not OMG instant death.

If there had been an accident the instructor would have been up on criminal negligence charges I would have thought?

It's interesting though how things change isn't it. I mean if you look back at dive practices from the 50s and 60s :o Run out of air, blow your jacket, last one to the surface is a pansy sort of stuff :D

Crazy, crazy stuff!

What's LOL about that?

Inspiration is a model of closed circuit breathing system

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention to the thread. Inspiration is also the progenitor of a concept, in this case perhaps the OP's question was inspired by James Bond, and the act if inhaling air, which is what the whole breathing apparatus thing is about. It was an inadvertent pun, or play on words. I had no idea it was also a model of breathing apparatus, but that just makes it work on three levels :p
