It's odd because it should be faster than a single 5870 as the 6850 is ever so slightly faster than the 5850
Yea not sure about that one would like to see a more recent comparison on latest drivers and a few new games.
I stand corrected then was sure I read somewhere the 6850 is on a par with the 5850 now
It's 6850 < 6870/5850 < 5870.
When overclocked the HD6870 is on par with a stock HD5870. As such, it is still behind the GTX560Ti by about 6% overall.
50 for your 5770 is asking a bit though....maybe 40
Good piece of information, I was back-pedalling from my initial statement that you would be able to get better performance with the 6870 once you overclock since Rroff pointed out that the real world gains would not be as good as I initially thought.
After a bit of research I am pretty sure that the 6870, once overclocked by 10-15%, should be able to keep up with a stock 560Ti in most titles (being in the 5% margin of performance difference that I consider insignificant). There might be titles that will show the difference to be much higher and should be taken into consideration when making a purchase decision.
It is however clear that the 6870 is a superb value for money when you take into account £25 worth of game vouchers on a £125 graphics card.
Overclocking the HD6870 to 1GHz on the core nets you around 8-9% in real world performance, not quite enough to match the GTX560Ti.

To be fair you probably would not be able to tell the difference between them in actual gaming blind testing without an fps meter up, but on paper the 560ti will be a few percent faster than an overclocked 6870.
I don't see how this is of any relevance to this thread, mate.
I can't quite see any comparison between an overclocked 6870 and a stock GTX 560 Ti in that review.
Which I agree with and that goes along with my previous thoughts.![]()
I was just showing how overclocking helped actual performance there.

An 8-9% improvement is still not enough to match the GTX560Ti. (67.38x1.08)
Those are not just estimates (I don't like estimates). They are calculated across all the tests I've conducted.
But this shows that the 560 Ti is 13.5% faster overall and that 9% improvement would be enough to keep the overclocked 6870 within the 5% margin of performance difference which is exactly what I suggested earlier in this thread?
You've just proven my point or I'm really tired and don't understand what you're on about.
Any PSU with 42A or higher on the 12V rail should be fine as long as it's a decent brand, has enough connectors and you know what you're buying.
You've been saying you can't find the facts to prove your point so I'm just providing you with the numbers...
And I was just... Oh, nevermind.
Lol, and I edited the wrong post.
That part on the PSU wasn't meant to be in this thread at all.![]()
