How much performance will I lose

Would be interested in any views people have on the below.

I have a 3 floor house and my router is on the ground floor connected to an rj11 socket on the main point on the ground floor.

The previous owner of my house installed a bt extension cable from ground to the first floor (bt female at both ends)

Id like to move my router to floor 1 in order to provide better coverage to the top floor, and to avoid cable work am thinking of using the above extension cable.

To do this I will need to go rj11 to bt male into the extension cable and then bt male to rj11 into the router.

Any thoughts on how much performance i might lose by doing this? As in lan speed at the router once moved?

Personally i'd want the shortest RJ11 run possible to the router with the minimum number of breaks. Running RJ45 and another AP is the better option, but failing that have you looked at powerline as an option? If you do use the existing cable then re-crimp it for RJ11 on both ends and remove 2 of the breaks at least.

I hadn’t thought about recrimping.

I’ve already got a tool and plugs, so will do this anyway and see what results I get!

Thanks
