How much power do i need?

Hey guys.
Planning a build for october when the old student loan comes through..
What kinda wattage do i need?
Im gonna have a few hard drives, quad core, sound card and 1 8800gtx and potentially buy a second 8800gtx in the near future.
Will 600W do? 800? Surely not 1000??

600w is fine but adding a second 8800GTX may change this. You'll need an 800W min I should think.

Ahh thanks.

Looked through your guide earlier but flicked right past the calculators.
Looks like its gonna have to be closer to 1000W with the second GTX.

I would serious consider about not going SLI, unless you plan on a 30inch+ screen, the performance you get out of it dosent justify the price you pay for that second card.

By the time games do take advantage of a SLI configuration (fully) your GTX or what ever card you get will be outdated.

A Corsair HX 620w should be able to cope with what you require (even with SLi as they have demonstrated it at trade shows before) but as stickroad says SLi usually isn't worth it unless you play at very high resolutions.
