Hoping for some help.

Had a debate at work and some one said that a computers and IT systems are 2% of non-domestic energy comsuption (They quoted BERR). Is this ture, seems a little low to me.

Plus what is the average comspution in watts for desktops and laptops.

Grateful for any help.

Thanks

M

For laptops I cannot say. That really does vary a lot though. As for desktops, you'll find that the average home PC (not the average gaming PC!) will pull around 150-200W on full load.

200w is a lot of juice, that's about high spec system with a 4850.

I don't think you can easily come up with an average figure but most systems without discrete graphics will be using well under 100w fully loaded and they're unlikely to see that much use.

Take a look at the graphs here - plenty of systems without integrated graphics use way more than 200W - even at idle.

I couldn't see anything for an integrated graphics system though.
